Headless E-Commerce Storefront & Checkout Rebuild

A headless commerce storefront and one-page checkout rebuild for a US home-goods retailer that cut mobile page load from 6.2s to 1.1s and lifted checkout completion by 34% on a catalog of 18,000 SKUs.

Headless e-commerce storefront and checkout rebuild for an online retailer

01The Challenge

A US home-goods retailer ran an aging monolithic storefront where category pages took 6.2 seconds to become interactive on mobile, the four-step checkout lost most of its shoppers before payment, and every merchandising change needed a developer and a full redeploy. Product pages carried no structured data, so the catalog never appeared in rich results or in AI shopping answers.

02The Solution

We separated the storefront from the commerce backend, serving a server-rendered front end from the edge while orders, inventory, and pricing stay in the commerce API. Checkout collapsed to a single page with express wallet payments, inline address and tax validation, and saved payment methods. Product, Offer, AggregateRating, and BreadcrumbList JSON-LD is generated from catalog data on every template, and merchandisers now publish collections and landing pages from the CMS without a deploy.
